I forget how far it had gotten in gobbling up all of the Monarch Wilderness, but it was just over the ridge in the next drainage and the air was bad. After noon it was nasty, but the Punchbowl was early. I've recently been reflecting on how little of the Sierra I've actually seen with just a few random bursts of trips now and then. I particularly should see north of Yosemite. Yet what I'm thinking about at the moment is Oregon. The last for either was 2017 and here it could be another big snow year, but not another eclipse.Valerie Nortonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14484251592068749175noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8337317150897548396.post-45534520208144062162023-02-09T13:57:29.624-08:002023-02-09T13:57:29.624-08:00I went on a backpacking trip in 1986 to this area,...I went on a backpacking trip in 1986 to this area, and one of the fathers brought a video camera, but he had to bail when his father broke an ankle. There aren't any photos from the trip, but I have a distinct memory of washing my hair near an outlet stream of a lake that dropped off abruptly on one side. After doing some research, I think it was likely Devil's Punchbowl where we stayed, and my friend and I went to the edge for some bathing with a view. The air was definitely clearer in 1984. I remember my 14-year-old self being floored by the view. Some googling after that led be back here. Not too many places you haven't been. :) Cheers.Derek (100 Peaks)https://www.blogger.com/profile/15616370956358815022noreply@blogger.com
