Go for the <a href="https://ngmdb.usgs.gov/topoview/" rel="nofollow">TopoView to download historic topographic maps</a>, but there are other links for other useful map sets there too. I'm finding it distinctly less clunky to use. It gives only the maps at the marker and not those nearby, so there's fewer records to wade through to get to what you want. It at least seemed to give me a map that was missing at the USGS Store's Map Locator, but there are still others I can't get.
