Even More Bears Ears Ruin Sites

Bears Ears National Monument

These are some particularly nice ruins (or at least that I particularly liked) that came up somewhere along one of the hikes presented. Or not. You never know, maybe I didn't actually post something. It seems out of character, but it might have happened.

walls and a tiny door
A little piece of my most favorite. Notice beside the door is a grinding area. I expect this is too small for a door for people.

way up in the rocks, more rocks
These are probably so nice because, well, you can't get to them. There are other forces at work, too. They had to be well built in the first place and it seems like being at just the right angle to the weather helps.

right hand ruin
The right hand ruin isn't so grand.

left hand ruin
But the left hand ruin is quite something.

tower tucked away
A partial tower is tucked away around the corner.

triple ruin
Taking in all the space they could.

round in a hole
They are sometimes so much a part of the landscape.

looking through a door and a slit in back
There is a slit to look out the back of this one.

a lot of cliff
Nothing to see in the big crevice. Look up high.

square buildings in a round hole
There they are. It looks like something has fallen that was closer to the weather.

more buildings in a hole nearby
The hole to the right was not visible from that angle, but has more ruins.

swirls and such
The only thing I stumbled upon that I felt was almost never seen. I think it's interesting that a water channel has been pecked out below the crack on the right.
